The Georgia Pacific Kalamazoo Mill

I don't believe that I had ever seen the GP Kalamazoo Mill at the time of its closing in December 2000, but after reading about the closing in the newspaper, I naturally decided to investigate. Even after its closing, the plant remained hard to enter for quite some time. We were able to get a small taste of the plant one night in the summer of 2002 by climbing a tree-battered fence, but that proved a bit too physically demanding for our tastes as our exodus from the mill that night resulted in a destroyed pair of jeans for one of us and a tetanus booster vaccination for another. Finally, an easier entrance method was found during the summer of 2005, and the mill began to yield its secrets:
